Overview.
Framing is in its most basic sense, is a way of presenting a picture to hang on the wall. It encompass many different strategies to most comfortably suit both the artwork & the person who owns it. Frames have been around for many years & have developed into a plethora of styles, & have grown in both use & availability.
Framing also has several secondary roles. One of the main ones is the protection & conservation of pictures. This is achieved by the use of quality materials & techniques that should extend the life of your artwork far beyond having it rolled in a cardboard tube.
Framing, or picture framing, is usually made by people operating out of small businesses. These people are usually very good in dealing with colours & have the knowledge to protect your pictures, while showing them off to their best, within the constrains of what the customer wants

There are also larger companies that manufacture picture frames. Though these are usually wholesalers, who primarily deal in large production runs.
