Overview.
Framing is in its most basic sense, is a way of presenting a picture to hang on the wall. It encompass many different strategies to most comfortably suit both the artwork & the person who owns it. Frames have been around for many years & have developed into a plethora of styles, & have grown in both use & availability.

Framing also has several secondary roles. One of the main ones is the protection & conservation of pictures. This is achieved by the use of quality materials & techniques that should extend the life of your artwork far beyond having it rolled in a cardboard tube.

Framing, or picture framing, is usually made by people operating out of small businesses. These people are usually very good in dealing with colours & have the knowledge to protect your pictures, while showing them off to their best, within the constrains of what the customer wants .
There are also larger companies that manufacture picture frames. Though these are usually wholesalers, who primarily deal in large production runs.
